Our audition process

When you arrive for your audition, a member of the Chorale will greet you and answer any questions you may have. The audition consists of two parts:

  • A vocal audition with our Music Director. Please come with a prepared solo or aria to sing. (You may use sheet music, or sing from memory.) We provide an accompanist, so please bring a copy of the music for the accompanist. (No tape recorded accompaniment, please.) You will also do some further vocal exercises with the Director to help evaluate range, timbre, and other aspects of your voice.
  • A brief written quiz on musical symbols and terms. You need not study for this quiz. It is meant to see how well you understand written music and music theory.

You may wish to complete the Audition Form prior to arrival.

Auditions are generally held at the First United Methodist Church (FUMC) in Mission Valley.

Rehearsals are usually held Mondays at 7:00 pm to 9:30 pm at FUMC. Additional rehearsals are scheduled as needed.
