Outreach

The Chorale provides outreach programs throughout the greater San Diego area to bring choral music to a broader audience through programs for schools and under-served groups.

Our educational offering for elementary schools is The History of Choral Music, geared to third and fourth graders. This program is presented by volunteer singers and docents in schools throughout San Diego County. The program is highly interactive and uses a variety of audio and visual aids in a lively 40-minute presentation. An historical timeline links new musical concepts to events that are familiar to the students. Pre-recorded and live audio, costumes and instruments help to introduce a variety of musical concepts and vocabulary that are fully integrated with the California State Educational framework.

The Chorale's Dress Rehearsal program for middle and high school students and their instructors provides students an insider's view of the preparation that goes into a choral concert at a final dress rehearsal before a program.

We offer Sentimental Journey and Holiday sing-along programs to retirement homes and health centers using volunteer singers, accompanists, and conductors to help activate memories and provide fun for elder citizens.

Our future plans involve developing a new outreach program for junior high and high school students. Our goal is to develop the program plans and seek funding to support the program during Fall 2007 through Spring 2008, and being a pilot program in the fall of 2009.

All outreach programs are offered free of charge. To schedule any of these programs, or for more information, please contact us.
