Each year, the SD Master Chorale reaches tens of thousands of listeners, both on stage and off, through live performances across the county including five programs in its regular season, collaborations with the San Diego Symphony and Mainly Mozart Festival, through broadcasts on San Diego’s NPR station, KPBS, and through Community Engagement programs.
Each year, the San Diego Master Chorale hosts the largest invitational Honor Choir in San Diego, bringing 100 talented students from across San Diego County together in a community concert with the SD Master Chorale. The Honor Choir features talented high school singers nominated by music teachers from San Diego, Riverside, and San Bernardino Counties. Led by Music Director John K. Russell, the students spend the day in workshops and rehearsals, inspiring music-making beyond high school. The day culminates in a Community Concert, uniting generations of voices in music of hope and joy. This year, the Honor Choir will be co-hosted by First United Methodist Church, and features FUMC’s Director of Choral Activities, Brian Lustig, as special guest conductor. The Honor Choir will be held Saturday, March 16, 2024, at First United Methodist Church (2111 Camino del Rio S., San Diego).
