HONOR CHOIR 2024
Concert Program

Arthur O’Shaughnessy’s words, “We are the music makers, and we are the dreamers of dreams,” from his beloved poem Ode, have inspired generations with their message of creativity and imagination. This phrase was uttered by Gene Wilder in the original Willy Wonka & The Chocolate Factory film from 1971, and is this year’s Honor Choir theme. Today, we present two settings of O’Shaughnessy’s poetry, each capturing his vision uniquely.

Our annual Honor Choir event aims to inspire students to continue singing throughout their lives. We believe that music enriches all who encounter it, and we empower young people to witness firsthand how it can impact all walks of life, and bring us together.

Singers in the SD Master Chorale represent a diverse cross-section of professions, beliefs, and backgrounds, and each singer dedicates time out of their busy schedule to continue singing. Collectively, the singers in the Chorale donate roughly 14,000 hours each year to singing.

We thank you for joining us today, and we hope today’s experience of hearing live choral music inspires you to be dreamers of dreams.
