San Diego Master Chorale Announces 66th Season
San Diego Master Chorale Invites Audiences into a Season of Wonder, Tradition, and Joy
(San Diego, CA) — The San Diego Master Chorale announces its 66th Season, featuring four inspiring concert experiences that celebrate wonder, tradition, and the power of the human voice. From music inspired by the night sky to one of the greatest masterpieces ever written, a beloved holiday tradition, and an uplifting gospel celebration, the 2026-27 Season offers unforgettable performances that connect audiences through exceptional choral music.
Season highlights include Horizons: Sky & Season, an awe-inspiring opening concert featuring Ēriks Ešenvalds’ Stars and Morten Lauridsen’s Mid-Winter Songs; the Chorale’s beloved 16th annual Messiah Sing; the Mass in B Minor by J.S. Bach, widely considered one of the greatest achievements in Western music; and Joyful Noise, a vibrant celebration of gospel music that brings the season to a joyous close.
The Chorale’s growing community engagement programs continue throughout the year, including Vocal Foundations for adult singers, Encore ROCKS SD, Beer Choir SD, Prelude Tickets providing free concert admission for students, and the Side-by-Side Concert, bringing together high school singers from across San Diego County.
“I am particularly excited about Season 66. We will take audiences on a journey through a wide range of choral styles and genres, with the focal point being our two performances of Bach’s epic B-Minor Mass,” said John K. Russell, Music Director. “The season opener will bridge together repertoire that celebrates the stars and seasons, and we will close the year with a truly exciting set of gospel repertoire. Our list of special guests and collaborators is huge this year, which helps realize our goal of community connection and collaboration in service of this beautiful art form.”
